FX Dashboard
Design and Development Project
The Ocra Dashboard is an eCommerce foreign exchange sales management tool which with its core functionality absorbs historical client information and graphically represents it allowing the user to hold and understand a wealth of knowledge and experience in an instantly accessible way. The Orca brand stands for the sharing of knowledge and execution of common techniques to optimise client pricing, ensuring informed decisions so that a user need not rely on instinct alone.
The brief.
We were asked to provide a complete re-design and UX analysis of the existing software in order to bring the application in line visually with the applications highly innovative functionality. Primary functions of the application are to capture client trading data, utilise and analyse this data and visualise to the user in order to determine optimal pricing for particular clients.
The software was built using Microsoft Windows Presentation Foundation framework. We were also tasked with implementing the new design using XAML (Extensible Application Markup Language) and so were responsible for all the front-end development on this project.
Our Role.
UX Analysis. High Fidelity Mockups.

Web Application.
The process.
In the first two weeks of the project I worked on understanding the tasks the ideal customer needs to perform with the product and identified any technical limitations to the software or areas which require fundamental changes to improve the user experience.
Once I was confidence that I had an accurate workflow diagram that supports the use cases for the application, I brainstormed ways to visualise the data which would allow the user to understand how to interact with the software but also how to absorb the data in seconds.
The follow week I put the visual design concept which was requested as part of the redesign brief, the UI design outputs and the UX analysis into a concept presentation in the format of a High fidelity mockup. With particular emphasis on the biggest problem to solve which is displayed below with the chosen solution.
Once the design concept was signed off, I was tasked with implementing the front-end design in XAML. I was able to work with my own style guide from my designs and implement feature by feature the design concept and major rolodex UI Element which was the central and critical feature required. Weekly Skype calls with the executive leadership team to hand over for testing were a collaborative way to keep moving forward and keep a healthy line of communication open.
The output.
The final output was a complete implementation of each screen of the application which reflected the original designs implemented, along with a hand over design specification and style guide for the team to continue work in-house.
