Garo Colouring App

The brief.

Garo Limited, came to me with an existing product that was built on a strong belief that the colouring apps on the market at the time were not serving enough of the market or were far too limited to retain a customer interest long term. Myself and the Garo executive team developed a new brand identity, front-end structure and feature aimed at this underserved audience.

The process.

Over 4 months I helped shape and validate their ideas and present weekly iterations of the visual concept and interaction design mockups. I created a new brand name, brand identity and tone of voice as a proposal which we used to work through the prototypes and high fidelity wireframes in order to demonstrate the user journey for 3 different user groups to stakeholders in the business.

Starting with the goal of ‘inviting people who work in creative fields to consider a digital colouring app social experience’ , I researched a market segment to target first and then mapped the different types of user within this group to determined the process user flows for the various ‘tasks to be done’.

Once the research phase was complete, I presented a number of recommendations to streamline the feature set, creating a list of prioritised features for inclusion in the MVP. This enabled the team on their side to create a roadmap, manage the development team and estimate when they are able to launch the product into the marketplace.

The output.

I worked on implementing the strategy we had agreed on and worked on documenting my research, building out a design guideline document and technical specification supporting development and presented the UX & UI designs weekly with the executive leadership team of the the company.

The output was a set of brand and style guidelines, annotated interaction designs, high fidelity mockups each feature journey to be completed by Garo Ideal Users.
